FOUNDER

Rebekah ("Bekah") Bardwell Doweyko is a nationally recognized eating disorder specialist, psychotherapist, clinical leader, speaker, consultant, and supervisor with more than 25 years of experience in behavioral healthcare. She is the Founder and Owner of Bardwell Behavioral, a specialized multi-state telehealth group practice dedicated to providing expert, evidence-based care for eating disorders and complex mental health conditions. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to advancing the treatment of eating disorders, ARFID, OCD, trauma, and related mental health concerns through direct clinical care, program development, clinician training, and professional education.

Through Bardwell Behavioral, she leads a team of clinicians specializing in eating disorders, ARFID, OCD, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and co-occurring mental health concerns. The practice is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care while expanding access to specialized treatment for individuals and families across multiple states.

She earned her Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University, where she was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, the International Honor Society for Counseling Professionals. Bekah is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist - Consultant (CEDS-C), reflecting her longstanding commitment to clinical excellence and professional mentorship.

Bekah's passion for eating disorder treatment began in 1999 while working at The Renfrew Center, where she witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact of specialized care and recognized the urgent need for greater awareness, earlier intervention, and improved access to treatment. Since then, she has served in clinical, supervisory, operational, and executive leadership roles across residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and community-based treatment settings.

Prior to founding Bardwell Behavioral, Bekah spent more than a decade as a senior leader at Monte Nido Walden, where she helped shape clinical programming, train multidisciplinary treatment teams, and advance innovative approaches to care delivery. Her work has included the development of specialized treatment tracks, implementation of weight-inclusive clinical initiatives, creation and expansion of virtual treatment programming, and development of services designed to meet the unique needs of underserved and marginalized populations.

In 2023, Bekah joined the leadership team at Vermont's first and only specialized eating disorder Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), helping to develop, launch, and operationalize the program. She continues to provide clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to support the program's growth and ensure access to specialized eating disorder treatment within the state.

In addition to her clinical leadership, Bekah is a sought-after speaker, consultant, and educator. She provides training and continuing education to therapists, dietitians, physicians, schools, healthcare organizations, and treatment programs on topics including eating disorders, ARFID, OCD, trauma, weight stigma, supervision, ethics, and evidence-based treatment practices. She has presented nationally on topics related to eating disorders, weight stigma, trauma, supervision, and clinical best practices, and is known for translating complex clinical concepts into practical, engaging, and actionable learning experiences for professionals at all stages of their careers. Bekah also serves as the Eating Disorder Consultant for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), where she provides subject matter expertise, consultation, education, and guidance related to eating disorder identification, treatment, and systems of care throughout Connecticut.

Bekah is particularly passionate about developing the next generation of specialized clinicians. Through supervision, mentorship, and consultation, she has supported countless therapists in building confidence, competence, and expertise in treating complex mental health presentations. Her leadership philosophy centers on clinical excellence, authenticity, collaboration, and the belief that healing is possible when individuals have access to knowledgeable and compassionate care.

Today, Bekah is licensed in 10+ states and continues to influence the field through clinical practice, professional training, program consultation, and leadership within the eating disorder community. Whether she is working directly with clients, mentoring clinicians, developing innovative programming, or educating professionals, her mission remains the same: expanding access to specialized care and helping individuals and families find lasting recovery and hope.

Outside of work, Bekah enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new adventures through travel and the outdoors.
